Ski day with Daddy

Coop & Daddy went skiing on Tuesday for the first time this season. I don't know who loved it more, Cooper or Daddy! He lasted about 1 1/2 hours while strapped onto Daddy's front and yelled "Woo-hoo" the whole way.


I seriously love his ski bibs!


It sure tired the little guy out!


He fell asleep mid-pretzel grab :-)

Introducing...

...EVE BARBARA. So, as we were trying to think of names for our last baby we realized we wanted to name one of our children after one of the most amazing, wonderful women we know. Around this time Eve told us she wanted a middle name. You should have seen her face light up when we suggested Eve Barbara. She thinks Barb is just as wonderful as we do. So...many months later we finally made our way to the court house and it's now legal. Eve is named after her Grandma. The above picture is of Eve at the court house and the one below is taken at the Nephi 4th if July fair.

Thanks Aunt Cassi!

Thanks to Aunt Cassi, our little Layton is one dapper little munchkin. He is also growing way to fast! Just a few days past his 2 month birthday and he is well into the 3-6 month clothes we thought we'd "just try" on him today. He is our little cutie! We love him lots.

I was 12 the last time...

...I had stitches. 12 stitches are laced into my right hand after opening up the furnace. To make a long story short, it's like a paper cut but with sheet metal. If the picture didn't gross you out, I'm sure the description did. For those in the military, the stitch is called a combat closer. My doctor was in the air force so he was pretty familiar with these types of "fixes". Nine days after the accident, I'll be stitch free.

Layton Burton Springer

Beautiful Blessing day! Mom and Dad Gundersen, Mom and Dad Springer and Tyler (Burton) Gundersen came in on Saturday November 1 for Layton's blessing. Mom was laid out on the couch recovering from the Mastitis and was praying that she would make it to the blessing the next day. Scott was the super husband and got the entire house ready for the expected guests while mom slept away the morning. Everyone arrived Saturday night and we had pizza and visited. The next morning mom felt miraculously better! Almost 100%, mom felt so very blessed and truly felt the presence of a Loving Heavenly Father who knew how important this day was for a mother!

It was a wonderful blessing and I was reminded of the wonderful blessings that can come from living the gospel. Scott was sweating bullets during the blessing because Layton was crying throughout. Grandpa tried the binky but Layton promptly spit it out onto the floor. It was great having family in the circle.

A Springer Halloween, Oh My!

It was a spooky and cold Halloween Night and the Werewolf, the Witch and the Lobster (with Ninja for protection) ran into the night with candy bags cackling eerily (and a bit annoyingly). They were off to fill their belly's and bags with treats! After a long day of Halloween Parades and parties at Dalyn's preschool and Garrett and Aubrey's school you'd think they would be worn out, but who can be tired on Halloween night. Dad took the kids to a neighborhood Halloween Dinner before taking them all out trick or treating. Just before taking them he had gallantly run to Target to pick up an antiobiotic for Mom who was hit swift and hard with yet another Mastitis infection. The kids had a great time roaming the neighborhood and then heading into the cul-de-sac for some socializing around the firepit with wonderful neighbors late into the night. Mom had the perfect treat of a warm bath to ward off the fever and chills and into her soft warm bed by 6:30.

Fall is my favorite time of year with a Holiday around ever corner. Cool crips evenings and warm drinks are the perfect compliment to the happy festivities! Happy Fall.

Binkie-less

So, for those who even care, I recently took away Coop's binkie. I have to admit, I was scared to death to do this because he has been a binkie baby since the day he was born and it has always calmed him on the spot. He'd find it in his crib if he ever woke up in the night meaning I haven't woken up with him in almost a year...and I cherish my sleep. However, I felt it was time to do away with it so he would have a good couple months before he saw it in his little brother's mouth.

It was a week ago yesterday that I snipped off the end of the binkie and gave it to him. I told him it was broken and what do you think he did? Appropriate answers would be cry, throw a fit, roll on the ground, but no, the little guy just pointed at it and laughed. He tried sucking it once and then gave up like it was no big deal. What a reaction?! He still liked to hold it in his hands (must be a comfort thing) so I let him have it that night. He went down great, slept great, and I thought I had just over-worried about it...that is until the next day, and the next day, and the next day. What a little beast! He was awful, mainly because he was not getting good naps in the afternoon and he was starting to wake up at night as well. Sleep is everything to the little man! I told myself if he wasn't back to his normal, happy, sleeping self by the following Monday (yesterday) I was giving it back.

Well, taking a couple days to adjust, he is his happy self again and has since given up even caring about the binkie (it's lost now, I have no idea where it went) but you won't see him going anywhere in the house without his blanket and dog. I do not look forward to doing this again with the next one, and I may even wait longer to rid him of it, but for now, I'm glad it's over!

A Week in Pics

This past week I finished the first part of a little project I am doing. It is called "A Week in the Life of". I took pictures all day long for 7 days of just our normal, everyday life and plan to make a small scrapbook of it to remember this time in our life. The first day was Monday and I took 75 pictures and by the last day, Sunday, I only took 10...I got a little tired of it ;-), but I'm excited to put it all together. Halloween at OMTR

So I wanted to post some of the pictures from Halloween at OMTR. In short, Halloween is very intense...there's not other way to describe it. Departments pick themes and decorate for an open house that family and friends of OMTR employees go through. It's amazing how the building transfers as Lynne can attest. All the pictures I'm showing are within my group's office space which consists of mostly cubes. Take a look and let me know what you think.

The department theme was Heros (Batman, X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) so we did a city called Gothtropolis. Here's the entrance sign under black lights.



As you enter the city, you see a couple of buildings with one of them on fire. This area is the center for about 6 cubes. Behind every building is a cube where someone works. People would walk through this area and pick up Candy.





The path leads to a secret lair in the city where the villains live. The pictures don't do this justice but this lair has a false roof at about 6'6". On the table are documents are how to beat the heros and on the computers at the cubes that you can't really see are screen savers from the Incredibles that show which heros are still alive.





After the lair, you head off to an alley in the city with gangster tags all over, a dead body outline, and a real pitbull dog for people to see. Seeing this with a flash doesn't do it justice so I have one of the tags in black light.





To give you an idea of what else took place, the Sales department brought in actual sod and laid a football field for a UofU vs. BYU football game. Cosmo and 2 BYU cheerleaders came by for pictures. There was an echanted forest, an entire McCain area (James would be proud), a miniuture putting course, a cowboy and wild west theme with straw everywhere, and the wizard of oz for the executives.
