Fun in Wenatchee

The Dahmer clan had a fabulous time up in Wenatchee with the family. Ashlyn was quite fond of Grandma's glasses and the infamous clown wig. Emma had great fun meeting relatives for the first time. We can't wait until we all get together again.:) 

2006 Triathalon Iron Women

Before the triathalon they were all confident and ready for what ever the event could throw at them. They were also a real inspiration to their husbands.

Even with thier green swimming caps they were a beautiful sight to behold.

All four of them crossed the finish line in great style. Barb was amazed at how good she felt after the race.

It was a great event. Rumor has it that the ladies are going to pressure the guys to join them next year. Another more fun weekend!!!

Rent-a-dog

About a week ago we found an ad in the newspaper for a Toy Beagle Puppy. We decided to go see him and of course we ended up buying him. After quickly deciding that now is not the right time for us to have a puppy, we reluctantly sold him to another family. It was a good insight to having a dog though; the messes, the chewing, the barking, and the early mornings were just not for us. He was an adorable little thing though. His name was Scooter and we call him our rent-a-dog for having only had him for a week.

Diving for Dollars

As an incentive for Caleb's office, $700 dollars in $1 coins and 50 cent pieces were thrown into the pool at our complex. The more sales you got within the past week the more time you got in the pool to "Dive for Dollars". Caleb, as you can tell, chose to attend this function in style, wearing a bright yellow speedo from goodwill. We think it helped his speed since in the end we ended up having $87 in coins. It was a fun activity and I thought I'd share it with you all!

Springer Activities

As some of you know we are attempting to put in our yard.... a very slow process with three munchkins running around. Needless to say they have been left to their own imaginations quite a bit. Which they have loved, especially with the plentiful amounts of mud available to them. This picture doesn't do justice to the amount of mud that Dalyn was covered with, just look at his eyes for an inkling.

Dalyn turned two with a family swimming party and his very own "freinds" cake. He plays pretend with little people and calls them "friends". Hi friend, one says and the other answeres "hi friend". I love to listen in!

This is Aubrey and her friend Aubrey at a very windy Egg Hunt. These two look so much alike and happen to even have the same name. Aubrey refers to her as "the other one Aubrey, or the Other Aubrey or sometimes just Other." Aren't they cute!

This is Aubrey at her gymnastics show. She was so excited to be out on the floor she was bouncing up and down while the girls on either side of her were trying to hold her hands. She had the entire audience giggling. Aubrey lets all her emotion show she doesn't hold back a bit!

Garrett had his Kindergarten Graduation (does anyone else ever remember having that?) He was so excited to sing his songs and practiced them daily. He made the comment "It is so weird, I can't stop singing once I start." And he was right, he would sing all day long!

In anticipation of seeing Caleb, I decided to spruce up my looks with a new hair cut and color. Needless to say he loved the surprise when I stepped off the plane. Also, this tree we are in front of is one of the things we have seen since being here in Charleston, SC. It is over 1400 years old. It was huge!

The Kite

The Soaring Kite

This weekend I attended stake conference. One of the topics that was covered is the reason for having standards and commandments. People often feel that their freedom is hampered by them and hat we would be better off and more free without them. So I learned the analogy of the kite that could be used for a FHE activity.

Take the kids out to fly a kite. There are three important elements, the Kite, the wind and the string. Once the kite is in the air let each person hold the string and feel how he kite pulls against the string. It appears that the kite is being held down or restricted by the string. To allow he kite to really soar, it appears, it would be best to le go of the string so the kite can be free to really soar. However, when we let go of the string, instead of soaring higher, the kite will immediately begin to spiral and fall to the ground. Why? Didn’t everyone feel how the string was holding it down and how the kite pulled against it?

The string, like rules, standards and commandments, gives our life resistance that, like the string, allow us to fly and soar higher than we can without them. In fact, without standards and commandment we will do as the kite and fall below our ability to soar and to reach the heights we are intended. So I am grateful that Heavenly Father gave us standards and commandments that we have the ability to fly high and soar toward Him.

Proverbs 4:4 …Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments and live.

Ashlyn didn't get a nap today and while Dad was cleaning the kitchen with Ashlyn on his back, she fell fast asleep. This one's mainly for Mom since we were on the phone with her when it happened.
